What is Pymetrics?
Pymetrics is a neuroscience-based assessment platform used by Goldman Sachs, Accenture, Unilever, LinkedIn, and 50+ other firms. Instead of traditional aptitude tests, it uses 12 short games (each 2โ5 minutes) to measure 91 cognitive and emotional traits โ then matches your profile against top performers at the target company.
The 12 Games & What They Measure
- Balloon Game โ Risk tolerance. Pump balloons to earn money, but pop = lose it. Aim for 6โ8 pumps consistently.
- Money Exchange (Ultimatum/Trust/Dictator) โ Altruism, trust, fairness. Be genuine โ don't try to fake generosity.
- Tower of London โ Planning and executive function. Think 2โ3 moves ahead before touching anything.
- Keypress โ Attention and effort. Press the spacebar consistently but not frantically. Rhythm matters.
- Hard/Easy Task โ Need for cognition. Choosing hard tasks signals intellectual curiosity โ valuable for consulting roles.
- Arrows โ Response inhibition. Ignore the direction the arrow points โ respond to its position. Practice this muscle memory.
- Lengths โ Attention to detail. Compare line lengths carefully. Accuracy over speed.
- Cards โ Learning under uncertainty. Observe which deck gives better returns and switch when patterns change.
- Faces โ Emotional intelligence. Take your time โ there's no timer pressure. Don't overthink micro-expressions.
- Signal/Stop โ Impulse control. Stop when you see the stop signal, even mid-keypress.
- Memory Vault โ Working memory. Use chunking โ group digits into pairs or triplets.
- Shape Spinner โ Processing speed and visuospatial reasoning. Speed matters here โ trust your first instinct.
